    I Feel Icky

I haven't forgotten about blogging. I've been busy with life. I hate when life gets in the way of my on line time.

I still haven't heard about weight loss surgery. Mr. Sign got his acceptance letter yesterday. I called the insurance company and was on hold for 40 minutes just to be told that I would know something soon. I just want to scream at them that I've been holding my breath for the last 5 months and I'd like to be able to breathe soon. I'm sick of wondering whether my future holds this change in life, that in my opinion, is the only way to save my life. I don't want to become an obesity statistic.

I've not been well for almost 2 weeks. It's not really been something I could put my finger on at first. I feel tired and my stomach has been upset. Well, not really my stomach, more like my right side. It feels like there is a ball under my rib cage and that something is pressing on it. I've been nauseous and can hear my digestive system "talking" constantly (even at night). I have a sneaking suspicion that it may be my gall bladder.

I've been taking 300 mg of Zantac every 4 hours which helps slightly. My real concern is that if it is my gall bladder, I will have to have surgery before I'm approved for weight loss surgery. That would hold things up again. *big sigh* Ideally, I could hold off and hopefully I will be approved for weight loss surgery and I could let the surgeon know about the gall bladder. He may be able to remove it when he's in there. This hospital doesn't do gall bladder removal unless absolutely necessary, unlike many weight loss centers that remove all gall bladders during WLS.

I just hope everything works out the way I would like it to.

One of the side affects of my stomach trouble is that when I have to go to the bathroom, it's right now. There's no question in my mind about whether or not I need to go.

My stepdad and grandpa have been working on the drain field at my mom and stepdad's home, which is also where I work. Today, I had about 30 seconds notice that I needed to use the bathroom which is about 100 yards from the shop. As I was running to the house, I asked my step dad if it was ok to use the bathroom. He said that is was, just as my grandfather yelled, "Tell her not to flush!" Let me just say, I really needed to flush.

You poor thing! I'm sending good thoughts your way!

Just in case, my doctor told me two things before I had the surgery:
    1. if your gall bladder looks remotely weirdo, we're taking it out
    2. if your pancreas looks remotely weirdo, we're taking it out.

Better to take it out THEN, than to have to go back in again when you're trying to heal.

Congrats on Mr. Sign getting approved. I'm sure you'll hear the good news soon! Keep your chin up, kid!

Oh good luck with the continued saga with your insurance company.

I hate to say it but it sure does sound like gall bladder to me too. Out of curiosity, you have not been eating real low fat lately, have you? I have seen several people, including me, who did that and it allowed the bile in the gall bladder to build up the stones.

If you do have to go through the procedure it probably will be the simple operation that involved three small incisions and it is over before you know it. Quick recovery too. Some things to look for is if you have a pain that starts up front and wraps around your right side to your back... classic sign of gall bladder. After you eat a meal that has a fair amount of fat in it the pain gets worse. For me, when I ate I felt like I was hungry but did not want to eat because of pretty much what you described.

I think I have a tape about gall bladder if you want to borrow it but it is not all that good.

    Hey good luck.

Oh sweetie......I'm sorry you feel bad and that you still have no word on the surgery.

    The bathroom story sucks

Buddha Girl~ Thanks for the good vibes and advice about the gall bladder.

Barman~ My issue is that if I have gall bladder surgery now, it will delay my weight loss surgery. That would really suck big donkey balls.

Kristen~ Is there ever really a good bathroom story that doesn't involve sex? Haha!

If you are having problems you can delay it by eating lower fat and staying away from a lot of spice. That way you can get to the weight loss surgery. Things will work out some how, you'll see.

I hope you feel better soon. As a healthcare worker...I know what a pain in the ass those insurance companies. What I would like to know is when did they go to medical school and become the Doctors???

Sign, this is gonna work out, kiddo. Honest. Pretty soon all this endless waiting will be over and you'll be on your way to healthy and vital you.

I hope it's not your gall bladder troubling you because you're stressed enough as it is. But .... if it is all the stuff barman said sounded good.

Just hang in there. It's going to be ok and I'm saying my prayers for you.

It definitly sounds like your gallbladder.

Sorry your insurance company is dragging their feet about your approval. I still think it will all work out.

I'm the same way about using the bathroom. Though mine stems more from the two pots of coffee I drink everyday.

Don't know if this will make sense of not, but a friend of mine wanted a bypass, but before that happened she too had to have gall bladder surgery..they did both at the same time....surgeon said since I am going to be in there anyway, we might as well take care of both...now this was in a rather large city near me...but she is doing so well now, so much healthier...she was borderline diabetic before her surgery...good luck, and hope you feel better soon :)
