    Weathering The Storms

Mid Michigan has been blasted with one storm after another, beginning Friday night. Friday night the girls and I took everything off the deck so it wouldn't blow into the house. Most of the storm went north of us. The storm was bad enough that it took out the cable and the internet. Our neighbors all lost power, but we still had it.

Saturday night we were watching the most beautiful lightening storm I've ever seen. It was the kind where the lightening is flashing horizontal instead of vertical. It was amazing until we got home and were hit with one storm after another until 4:30 am. Mr. Sign came upstairs to wake the girls and me up to go to the basement. The city sirens were blaring and we noticed that our 200 pound grill had been blown off the deck (we had since put all the furniture back).

Last night we were hit again, this time with tornadoes sighted very close to us. Once again, we got familiar with our basement. Our neighborhood looks a war zone with trees down on every street.

You never realize how cut off you are from the world until you have no TV or internet to give you weather updates. The radio was of little help.

More storms are predicted for tonight. We have already received 6 inches of rain in 3 days with another 1.5 inches predicted for tonight. I'm saying a little prayer that we are able to weather this storm.

We got hit by thunder storms yesterday. Lost power for a couple of hours, but that's about it, thank goodness.

We rarely have tornado warnings here in WV but last week we had an actual tornado and my girls at school had to all sit out in the hallways with their heads between their knees. It was so scary!
I hope you weather the storms without harm!

Also, I'm a new visitor to your blog and I just wanted to say congrats on the weight loss. You look amazing!

It sounds kind of scarrryyyyyyyy, but I am amazed that you still found beauty in the midst of the storm. . . . I love watching lighting storms. .. . especially when they are at a distance.
    Stay safe!

Jenn, it's crazy no??!! We've had four deaths (I'm sure you guys have had more...duh) here in GR. It hasn't personally affected us much other than it's rained consistently since before the last day of school and Ben is getting bored. lol

I'm so glad you all are ok. I don't know what I would do if I actually had to go to the basement because of tornado sightings...

Wow, I'm scared for you. Be careful Jenn and keep us posted. Earthquakes seem mild compared to what you're going through.

I'm so glad to hear that you guys are safe and sound! How about getting one of those battery-operated weather radios especially if you're looking at more threatening storms and possible tornados. A friend of mine has one and swears by it.

200lb grill off the deck? One word: CRIPES.

I lost a flower box that was blown off the deck. Other than that I did OK. Oh I forgot, I went 36 hours without power. Now that was a huge pain. I was so happy when I discovered the power was back on at 4:45 am today. The lot next to me lost one of the big evergreens.

Of course I lost most of the food in the fridge and freezer but if that is the worst of it I am doing great. Glad you guys survived all the weather. I missed most of it as I was in Detroit until Sunday night.

We are getting same here. Ive taken grandson to the basement a couple times already but so far the biggest thing to hit here other than the rain has been hail. The tornadoes have been all north of us. This past weekend every one on the other side of the street lost power. I sure was glad to be on this side.
