    Judgment Day

Let's face it. We all make some sort of assumption when we first meet people whether it's judging the clothes on someone's back, the color of their skin or the size of their body. I admit that I'm as guilty as the next person. It's unfortunate but also a reality.

In my short blogging career I have met hundreds of people and admit to drawing conclusions about them just by reading their thoughts and comments. That's what humans do, right?

For the most part, my initial reaction to my first impressions are usually correct. If I'm turned off by a comment or a post, I ignore that person because it's easier to do than get into a heated argument that will get neither of us anywhere. It's not like I can change the way a person thinks. Why should I waste my time trying to change someone's mind that I don't even know.

There have been a few instances where my instincts have been wrong. I'm glad since I have become close with those few here in blogland. Happily my radar was off.

Everything you have read or will read on my blog is painfully true. Boring as it may be, it's all me.

Sadly I have found that there are several doppleganger blogs out there. Don't get me wrong, I love creative blogs where someone purposefully takes on an alter ego to entertain the masses. I'm speaking about blogs where someone pretends to be someone that they are not and spends time convincing others that they are something other than what they truly are. It becomes a game to them and in the end they end up hurting many people as well as themselves.

Several of these same people that I've run across have been found and outed. Their response has been to delete their blog and I can only assume that they are in another group spreading their lies with a new and "improved" blog. I can only hope that they learned something along the journey.

I'm not speaking of all blogs that have been deleted. I've known many that have had to delete because their anonymity has been compromised and to those people I am truly sorry. Sorry because some fuckers had to mess with you because you became more popular and got more attention than they did.

Some have changed URL's because they felt they would be more comfortable sharing less of themselves and that's understandable.

I have no idea about where I was going with this. Only that everyone is here for a different reason. Some of our reasons overlap like a Venn diagram. It's nice to find familiar ground and to celebrate our differences.

To all my blog friends, past, present and future, I love ya, man!

I've only been going to personal blogs for a few months and so far I haven't spent time on any that I later found out were fake. I guess I will eventually, though.
I imagine my response will be pretty much the same as yours, though. I'm not really all that interested in reading fiction.

Wow. I enter this blogosphere with complete and total disregard to reality.

I don't care what you're selling, so long as I enjoy the purchase.

If it is fiction then I appluad your creativity and for non-fiction your honesty.

My blog, btw, couldn't be more sincere.

Jenn, I have never doubted the sincerity of your blog. You come over as an intelligent, creative and caring individual.

Alex and I write from true life events and certainly don't feel it necessary to pretend that we are something we are not. We get our greatest pleasure from being open about our relationship and the comments that brings.

I for one love coming here and reading your life and thoughts. :)

I'm not sure what I just read but I do believe you have "senses" about things and what you say is probably true.
Unfortunately I try to take everyone at face value and leave it at that.

The thought of pretending to be something I'm not is rather foreign to me but I can see where hiding behind a blog would make doing this very tempting.
I hope I haven't been duped by anyone but if I have.. oh well my heart is still intact.
    luv ya babe,

Gary~I hope that you never invest yourself "getting to know" someone through their blog and later find out that everything you thought you knew was a lie.

George~I don't mind reading fiction as long as I know it's not real. When someone touts their writing as real life events, I get upset when I find out otherwise.

Suze~I enjoy hearing about you and Alex and have never doubted for a minute that it wasn't all true. We should all have such an exciting relationship as you two do! I appreciate that you read my mindless drivel! :-)

TC~You and I are much alike. I'm not sure how you knew that I have "senses" about people, but I do. I always have ever since I can remember. I hope you never get duped either.

Get over to the Files when you have a chance!
There is a post you must read.

Are we the abnormal ones because we do not represent ourselves as something we are not?

    SignGurl said...

Madame~I don't think we are the only "abnormal ones". I just think there's more "fake ones" than we will ever know.

    Suze said...

Jenn, I finally got round to linking to you. I've been meaning to do it for a while. ;)

    SG got linked by A & S?????!?!?

    Doesn't that feel gooooooood!

    SignGurl said...

Suze~Thank you! I'm not really sure I belong on the list with all of those hot blogs, but I'm honored just the same.

    Madame~It feels ssssssoooooo good!

I know myself I embelish a little but that is the extent of things. I don't have the energy or inclination to make things up. Besides, even if I made things up they wouldn't be all the exciting anyway. Some people lead an exciting life, then there is me... I tend to take people at face value and so far I guess I have been lucky.

    SignGurl said...

Barman~I'm not talking about a little embelishment. I mean that every single thing written is a total and complete lie. You are not boring. Just real!

Then I must confess: in real life, I am not the Taker of Gist.

In fact, there is no such that as Gist. It was all a rouse to keep Command chasing their tails while I acquired them through a hostile takeover.

hey good morning (yes its still morning for me) ...and just telling ya im back at home..thanks~

    SignGurl said...

Gist~You're not? Damnit! Another one bites the dust!

Sugar~Glad to see ya again! Hope all is well with you.

Not being myself would take too much energy.

And we all know what a lazy bitch I am.

Has something happened recently that I missed?!?!? ;-)

Well, I started a blog as more or less a diary. Recording adventures I knew I would be having now that I have kids. So, hopefully you know that I'm not one of the fake ones! :)

BTW c'mon over to my place...I finally posted that pic I told you about a little while back.

My only question is, what's gonna happen to me, boss? Am I gonna get thrown in the... Rubber Room?

And we love you too Jenn!! Please don't tell anyone that I am really a pre-op tranny k?? I just KNOW there is a woman in me somewhere!!

    SignGurl said...

Big P~No, you didn't miss anything, sweetie. Just some crap going on elsewhere in the Blogospere. I love reading all of your stuff and can't wait to see what you are going to do with all of your free time.

MamaK~I loved the pic! I also enjoy reading what's happening in your family's life. I have no doubt that you are a genuine person.

DZER~I shall never let an imposter DZER turn my head, heh!

Gist~I'm afraid to go to the rubber room.

WMY~I always had my suspicions about the tranny thing! I'll help you find that woman.

There was an author that was caught in a 'biography-type' book about his drug addictions and his hard life, etc...who lied about certain events in his novel. It's called, "A Million Pieces" (I think that's the name) Well people were outraged due to his fabricating of the events that took place in his book.

I think if you're upfront with people and let them know--hey this is fiction, or this is REAL and it's my life---then you can't go wrong. Some people blog for the mere purpose of entertaining others or what not. Who knows.

Don't sweat it---do your thing...that's all that matters. I've seen quite a few bloggers delete their website for a number of reasons.

Interesting when you think about it though!
