    Things Are Moving Quickly

When I first talked to the people at the health center they gave me a timeline for the gastric bypass surgery. I was told it would take over a month to get my first appointment after attending the orientation on Tuesday. Well, I have 4 appointments scheduled in the next three weeks! The first one with the surgeon is Monday.

After you you see the surgeon, the behaviorist, the internist and the dietician, your information is then sent on to the insurance company. They make the final decision.

The only requirements that my insurance company has are having been overweight for 5 years and a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 40%. The insurance pays for 100% of the surgery. If I have to stay in the hospital (which I more than likely will have to) I have a $500 copay. Small price to pay for a new way of life.

I'll keep you all updated and hopefully will not bore you.

Update~ I just talked to the scheduler and she said that I can expect to have surgery by the end of June or the beginning of July! Woo Hoo!!!! Doing the happy dance ~*~*~*~*~

Nonny~I'm a little worried that if I only talk about the surgery, I will bore most of you. Thanks for taking the time to read my crap every day.

DZER~Thank you. I have spent the last 2 years researching and thinking.

Sparky~You are too funny! I think you were grounded when I announced my intentions earlier this week.

Good luck to you, I've got an online galfriend that did this last year and she has documented some of her journey. It was very interesting and she is SO happy and almost near her goal weight. You'll be fine, I'm sure of it.

I do agree with Sparky, you are a lovely gal, no matter. And that is from one buxom woman to another.

I wish you well and will try to follow your journey.

BTW, your pink lips do NOT match my red hair. Sparky looks like a clown. LOL!

Milkmaid~Your boobs look so hot on her but better on you. You are right, the pink lips don't do justice to your beautiful red hair.

I want people to know that I'm not having gastric bypass surgery because of the way I look. Well, not totally true. I would be happy to not carry around this extra weight. My main concern is my health.

I know from experience that they'll love every dirty detail, Jenn!

Ahem...I'm the one she's been talking with about this. She's a perfect candidate. People have too many misconceptions about gastric bypass. It truly is a last resort for many of us. I know Jenn...and know she will rise above to feel better both physically and mentally. It's not about looks...it's about life.

I'm so proud of you, woman!

Buddha Girl~Finally, you outed yourself! I'm so glad that I found you. You are my rock, girlfriend. I'm glad you are here to back me up on the whole "it's for health, not looks" thing. Some people just don't get it.

Terry~Thank you so much! You may change your mind on the boring part. (Let me know if/when it happens ;-)

Boy, things ARE moving quickly. I'm so excited for you! I'd be a lot more inclined to think about the proceedure myself if my insurance covered it. I know I'd fit the criteria! lol And you will NOT bore us... we want to know! xox

As I said in my last comment, I know almost nothing about this, so it is not boring at all. In fact, so far it has been very interesting.

BTW, you are lucky that it won't be really expensive. 500 dollars sounds like a real bargain.

It is so utterly amazing how fast it moves. I can't believe that my surgery is 10 days away. After spending over two years researching, soul searching, debating, and making up my mind, from start to finish this only took two months, and here I am. Ready, willing, and God grant me able to handle this huge change in my life.

I wish you only the best and if you need a shoulder or an ear, drop me a line, I will only be a month or so ahead of you.
