So Ya Had A Bad Day

Yesterday turned out to be a completely crappy day. I took the day off to take daughter #1 to a 2 hour othodontist appointment. As I was waiting for #1, I decided to check the calendar on my phone. The appointment was supposed to be on Tuesday, the day before. Crap! They can't get her in for another month.

After dropping #1 back off at school, I decided to go see Zodiac by myself. There were only 3 other people in the theater. I found the 2 1/2 hour movie enjoyable.

On my way to pick up #2 from school, I was passed by at least 20 police cars. Not all that uncommon where I'm from. I was a little concerned since my daughter's school was less than a block from this.

I made my usual turn only to be confronted with the aforementioned 20 police cars blocking traffic, surrounding a car with guns drawn. The intersection where I turned is one of the busiest in my town and I was unable to turn around. I was trapped with guns pointed in my direction. A county officer approached me with his rifle drawn and waved for me to get out of the area. "I'm trying!", I yelled.

I was within 100 feet of the perpetrators. I finally was able to get turned around but couldn't make the turn for over 10 minutes since the traffic was jammed up. The standoff continued behind me with guns pointed in my direction since they had surrounded the car from all directions.

Once I finally broke free of the mess I was immediately relieved to be free of the immenent danger. I began to shake and even cried! I have no idea why this upset me so much. Maybe it was the fact that I had just watched several people be shot at point blank range on the big screen. Maybe it was relief that my child was ok. Maybe it was that I was ok.

A few hours later, #2 and I were on our way to pick up #1 when a car pulled out in front of us. I swerved and just missed it by a hair.

Then, I drove a half an hour to a weight loss meeting and there were only 2 people there.

To top off everything, I have a monster chest cold the size of, well, my chest, and it has now invaded my head.

I'm done complaining now at least for a while.

Not first, but I beat G-man...and that makes me giggle.
I think on days like this it is better to just get your ass right back in bed and start over the next day. I am so sorry you had to go through that. I totally understand the shaking and crying part. I worked in a bar some years ago, and there was a big fight...guns ended up being drawn...it was awful. I kept my cool until things were resolved...and the cops showed up! Then, after it was over, I completely lost it! I am sending a big hug your way...I hope you feel better soon!

Holy sheeit. Glad that day is all over and done. Only one way for today, UP. :)

    Feel better!

I have had a gun drawn on me twice in my life and there is no way to describe that horrible trapped feeling. And it's hard to breathe when it's all over, chest cold or not.

    Feel better Sign ((((Jenn))))

It is funny how you can hold it together when you have to. I think you use something up because when you crash, you crash big. So glad you made it through the day relatively OK and so did the kids.

With you, a chest cold could be fatal, couldn't it? :)

    {{{hugs}}} for my friend.

Now I know if I am ever on that busy road you speak of (only the busiest in the area) and I see a bunch of police cars heading in one direction... I am turning around and finding another way to go! Thank goodness I do not go to the medical clinic there anymore but there is one of our hospitals... oh no!!!

Oy, what a lousy day! I've got the cold too - if that makes you feel any better. No voice and a nagging cough. I've only got one more day of meetings to get through, so it should be ok.

Glad you liked Zodiac .. I saw it a couple weeks ago and it really disturbed me. That scene by the lake was horrifying.. total mindf**k.
