    Luck O The Irish

My paternal grandfather was Irish. He was second generation. He grew tired of discrimination against the Irish in the 1930's so he dropped the O' off of his last name (my maiden name).

I looked up a couple of St. Patrick's Day terms.

St. Patrick used the shamrock, native to Ireland, to explain the mystery of the Holy Trinity, Three Persons in One God.

A leprechaun (Modern Irish: leipreachán) is a type of male elf said to inhabit the island of Ireland. They are a class of "faerie folk" associated in Irish mythology and folklore, as with all faeries, with the Tuatha Dé Danann and other quasi-historical races said to have inhabited Ireland before the arrival of the Celts.

They usually take the form of an old man and enjoy partaking in mischief. Their trade is that of a cobbler or shoemaker and they are often described as being seen working on a single shoe. They are said to be very rich, having many treasure crocks buried during war-time. [1] While anyone keeps his eye fixed upon them, they cannot escape, but the moment the eye is withdrawn they vanish.

St. Patrick STOLE the symbolism of the shamrock from the Celts and Druids.

Originally the shamrock represtented the Goddess in her three incarnations,
    Maiden, Mother and crone.

Green beer makes you pee green so just say no!

My grandfather's family dropped the O off of their name too, but I'm not sure why. Have a nice celebration.

Well I think I am going to head out to the bar to meet up with some friends, catch the second half of the bball game and someone more with a gew beers tossed in. Not a big fan of going out for St Pats but I think I know a bar that will at least be tollerable.

No green beer for me but I hope you have your fill... Thanks for the info.

I'm skipping beer today. But no one had better pee in my wine or i'll be majorly pissed off.

Hmmm... is it odd to get pissed off if your wine gets pissed in?

Yes, of course, St. Patrick. I completely forgot. The only Patrick I know of is Patrick Stewart. Captain Picard, you know. Helped me fix the transporter once. Good thing, too, because the away team ended up being in extreme danger. That'll teach 'em to beam down to an oxegen rich planet while wearing fire suits!

Barman~You are braver than I. I stayed in last night but I'm going out tonight to a party.

Nonny~I'm more worried about you, girl!

Lara~Careful with that wine. If I see the glass and I have to pee....

Gist~Patrick Stewart is a hot bald man!

I survived, had two Killians and was home by 10:00 so not to bad a night. My friends were at the bar (Franks East) since mid afternoon and held a seat for me. They almost came to blows with a drunk over the seat. A most unhappy drunk as the Spartans lost their NCAA championship bid. His girlfriend was not much better shape than him.

I wondered why this particurally touchy feely lady came up to me hit me on my back a little and said "I see you finally made it." Glad her hubby did not get jealous.

Now it is comming back to me why I never go out for St Pats anymore. That and the crowds. I hate anything that is wall to wall people. I hope you had a good time at the party.
