    Surprisingly, Still Alive

The first 3 days of the diet almost killed me. I had a migrane the size of Detroit and I can't take any of my meds for it. Tylenol just doesn't do it for me. I toughed it out, hating every minute of it. I couldn't watch TV since every other commercial had food in it. I could've eaten sand just to be allowed to chew.

Strangely, when I woke up on Sunday, things seemed much better. My headache was down to a dull roar and food didn't look good to me anymore.

Mr. Sign had an Endoscopy today to determine whether or not he has ulcers before he can have gastric bypass surgery. He has a rough time with anesthesia and can't seem to wake up. The first thing he said to me when I came into recovery was, "Shhh, my wife is running around here somewhere." I can only hope he was being funny.

The stuff they give you makes you lose your short term memory. I would tell him what the doctor said and before I finished he would ask the same stinkin' question again. Eventually I told him that the doctor confirmed his pregnancy with him being due in April, with twins.

So in trying to link my starving diet to the surgery center I should tell you that the endoscopy center is next door to the weight loss center. I snuck over to try to weigh myself just to see if I had lost any weight. (I didn't mention that the doctor last week said that if I didn't lose 10 pounds by next Thursday, they would cancel my surgery.) I crept in as quietly as a woman of my size can, took off my 4 pound shoes and stepped on the scale. "That can't be right." I said to myself. So I stepped off and back onto my beast of burden and lo and behold, the reading was the same. I HAD lost 15 pounds since last Wednesday after only 4 days on the diet! Woot!! All this suffering is definately worth it.

KJ~ I'm on an 800 calorie diet that is mostly liquid. I can only eat food that is packaged (mostly dry). Nothing else. Oh, except I can have sugar free jello once a day (it has 10 calories). It pretty much sucks but I'm still kickin'!
