    Thoughtful Gift

My maternal grandmother started a music box collection for me on my first birthday. She put the year she bought each of them on the bottom. She did this until I was about 12 years old. I had them displayed in my room when I was growing up. When I moved out, I didn't have anywhere to show them off so they became part of the clutter on our basement shelves, stored inside a box.

Mr. Sign remembered how much they meant to me and purchased a curio cabinet for Mother's Day.

As I unwrapped each of them, memories came rushing back of my youth. I had almost forgotten how beautiful some of them were. I had tears in my eyes as I remembered my grandma who was so simple, and yet saw reason to spend hard earned money on these delicate treasures. Grandma had very little money living solely on Social Security and money she earned from selling eggs. I'm sure it was a hardship for her.

I found my tea set and displayed that along with a few other knick knacks.

Mr. Sign did good. I think I'll keep him for a while. *wink*

I spent the day wearing a crown that the girls found for me. Since Mr. Sign left for Phoenix yesterday, I took the girls to the park to play a little softball. Both girls couldn't believe how far I could hit a ball, or how fast and hard I could throw. I've still got it, baby!

Hope everyone had a relaxing Mother's Day!
