They were staring her in the face, begging her to come
to them. She wasn't sure how long she could hold out
against them. They were calling her name.
She had done so much to resist their evilness but could
hold out no longer.
She ordered an espresso with a side order of candy corn.

I was inspired to write this because today marks the beginning of my weight loss journey. One year ago, I started the pre-operative liquid diet. It's been one year since I've had refined sugar or caffeine. (I realize that it's impossible to not have sugar since it's in everything but I've made a conscious attempt to not eat anything that I knew had sugar in it.)
I found myself staring down a bowl of candy corn. It's one of my favorite candies and I always look forward to it at this time of the year. I'm proud to say that I won and didn't eat any. I'm so afraid that it might open the gates to hell.
I know most of you will never understand what I'm going through here. Some of you will tell me to never try sugar and you'd be right. But, part of having this surgery is learning moderation. I can't foresee myself staying completely away from sugar forever.
The caffeine I don't miss. Sugar is a different story. *sigh*

But you've done SO well!!!!
Keep on keeping on, Jenn! :)
i can tolerate SOME not so much sugar now. 2 years out. like 1 mini candy bar [like those little bitty ones or a hershey's kiss] is okay. anything more than that? nope. and i'm glad.
i only want it like that one week during the month. fear is a horrible thing. i always thought-omg. i'll get fat again. you don't. but you learn real quick like what you can and can't have. which is good.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh
candy corn...
my evil nemisis..
But..
Since I have determined I am sooo evil..
heheh... Candy corn and I now go hand in hand..

Candy corn I can pass up, but those little pumpkins... not so easy!
Hang in there Jenn. You look marvelous... but then, you ARE! xox
Nice 55!!
Keep up the great work and hang in there!!
Yeegads woman1 Why'd ya have to go and post that pic? Now I'm feeling the need to stop at the market and by a bag of that stuff. And trust me...I NEED to keep clear of it for awhile. My butt is starting to drag the floor.
I didn't know you couldn't have caffeine.
I hate candy corn, but I do love to make fangs with them......
Thats an odd snack combo but then Im drinking diet coke for breakfast.
Have a great weekend, SG!
What a wonderful 55...
Its really hard to resist sugar.Dang..it is one whole flavor!!!
Great job!!! I wish I was as strong as you - but I'm getting better. Have you ever heard of sparkpeople.com? It's an awesome website that's for people wanting to lose weight or just live a healthier lifestyle. My name on there is Sophie_Jeter if you decide to join.
I only like the corn when they make it with honey.
I understand what you are saying sign. If a person really want's to change then they will make up their mind and take action. Good for you jenn. I'm so proud of you for TAKING ACTION and not backing down.
I really do admire your strength and I know that feeling when sweet things call to you.
I ate seven candy corns today at work. I'm four year post-op and don't eat refined sugar on a regular basis. Today...I wanted and ate 'em. Live vicariously today, Jenn!
Jenn, I thought I had visited the wrong blog then. Lol
Love the new template and keep up the good work, you have come so far.
You know what they say "All things in moderation" (except sex) ;)
I can totally relate to this 55, except it's dark chocolate that does me in.
It takes a lot of power to resist those candy corn.
:)

P.S. LOVE the new look! :)
Candy is addictive. Good for you that you stayed away.
I can so relate. My gal smokes cloves once in a while when we are out at bars. Just one will do me in and destroy the nonsmoking thing I've got going on....
I am uber proud of you for resisting the evils of candy corn....
And that makes you so much sexier!
like the new look.
and admire your willpower.
you're the bomb!
