My best friend's nephew, Nick, (the picture on the left is my friend, Nick, and me. The smoke was from a tiki torch, so it's kind of weird.) is is about to come home from Iraq so I made a banner that our group will carry in a coming home parade. I took it to my friend's mother's house so she could see it. She was so excited that she called Nick's dad, S, to tell him about it. She handed me the phone and I was thanked profusely.
Nick's dad (my best friend's brother), is 7 years older than we are. He was always the gorgeous star football player in school. S is also one of the nicest people I've ever met. I've had a school girl crush on him since I was 10 years old.
When I would spend the night with my friend in grade school, we would irritate her brother to no end. I can remember sneaking into his room and my friend would quietly slide open his top dresser drawer. She knew all of his hiding spots and easily found his stash of condoms. We would giggle and sneak back out before he found us.
As I got older, S, got married but remained a hottie that I had the hots for. He married the wrong person and ended up with two great kids, but also divorced.
Imagine my surprise yesterday when S showed up just a while after the phone call with his mother. The three of us sat around the kitchen table and talked about old times. The whole time I'm talking to him, I'm not really making eye contact because I feel like a school girl again. I realized this was rude so I started to really pay attention to what he was saying.
We talked a lot about my weight loss and what it's meant to lose that much weight that quickly. He told me I looked gorgeous. *blush*
S and I were talking about his son, Nick, and mid sentence he stopped and said, "You have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen." I blushed again and said, "Stop! You are embarrassing me!" His response was, "No, really. You are gorgeous!"
At this point, I can't even speak. Imagine me, speechless!
It was getting kind of hot in the kitchen so I decided it was time to leave. I stood up, as did S. The next thing I did will haunt me forever. I reached my hand out to shake his. Duh! I'm such a moron. S grabbed my hand and pulled me in for a giant hug and a kiss. He said, "I can't shake your hand. Give me hug!"
This story proves the point that I need to work on my self confidence.

I'm happy you got the chance to do that. Look's like fun I love fuzzy wuzzy.
um, did you say he was divorced? Military? Iraq?
Like I said..
dan wants to see us dyke it out..
your super hot.
What can I say, your friend was so right. Doesn't it feel good to feel like a school girl again? It makes you feel younger all over again.
Big grins for one hot dork.
s is right, you do have the most gorgeous blue eyes, and your smile? wow! lights up a room. believe it, baby. glad he gave you a hug. ;)
It took me awhile to sit with the realization that with my weightloss, I am attractive to attractive people. It still is weird not just being the fat best friend type.
tears.to.my.eyes
i feel this so deeply.

Oh that is just the greatest story and he is a hottie no doubt. Funny how we never seem to get over those little school girl crushes.
Happy Halloween Jenn...

jillie "BOOO"
A great story.
He had more restraint than I would have! *wink*
you DO have beautiful eyes!
tc
I love the letter S in the last post! I want a B!
Self-confidence comes with time. The behaviors you used to move through each day pre-surgery will be tougher to change than the physical things you've gone through in the past year. Take it day by day.
I love that feeling too. I need to find that again.
You are gorgeous :P
I've always had low self esteem. I need to get over it too. My weight has been a sore point for me for my whole life, but I always seem to hover around the same weight. Funny thing is, I look at myself in the mirror and think I look OK, but when I am around women I feel completely inadequate.
Maybe there's a drug out there that will fix me.
He is right you do have gorgeous eyes. I bet you were glowing all day after that encounter. ;)
Manny~ His dad, the guy I have the huge crush on, is divorced and hot!
Roxi~ You are super hotter!
Barman~ I didn't know you were ever a school girl, *giggle*
Lime~ Thank you. I'm so glad he gave me a hug too.
Yippeeskip~ I'm not sure I'll ever get that I could be attractive to anyone.
T Cole~ I think every woman has had a crush that she wishes would come to fruition.
Jillie~ He made me blush! I haven't blushed since...oh yeah, Gman makes me blush all the time.
Sal~ You aren't known for your restraint, are you?
TC~Thank you, kind cat!
Buddha Girl~ I can so hook you up with a B. They are about $120 each. Can you believe that?
I'm still not sure I'll ever be confident.
Jon~ "That" feeling is what we are all looking for, isn't it? It makes you feel like a different person. You have much to be proud of. You are such a great guy and a hot one to boot. If you ever find that drug, hook me up.
Suze ~Thanks! I'm still glowing just thinking about it.
Sometimes we are saved by characteristics we might view as flaws. Ok, maybe you need to work on your self-confidence, but thank heaven you weren't so "self-confidant" that you threw yourself on this guy and got yourself into a situation you might regret.
Boy, I sound old-fashioned. But there you are. I don't know if I like that "schoolgirl" feeling myself - I'm always so afraid of hurting the other person's feelings.
*S*
Great story. Glad he didn't accept the handshake!
