    A Proud Moment

My mom and I were sitting in her living room after work (I work at her house) creating excuses not to exercise. Exercise is the bane of my existence. I hate the thought of it, but strangely enjoy once I finally start doing it. So, anyway, Mom and I decided that we had a million excuses, but none of them were good enough not to exercise. We joined Curves.

We had both belonged a few years ago but dropped out when she had knee surgery and I dropped out because my weight was dangerously close to 400 pounds and I was having a rough time breathing, let alone working out.

We got weighed and measured. I was disgusted to find that my fat % is still 40! Holy crap, I'm still only a little less than half fat. That means that I've lost a lot of muscle mass as well as fat. When I was super fat, I was super strong. I'm weak now, especially in my arms.

The woman who measured me made a rude comment about me needing to tone up the extra skin I have. I told her that was why I was there and that really no amount of exercise is going to get rid of the hideousness that is hanging from my freakish body. Grrr... I don't know why I let people irritate me. Especially people who have no idea where I've come from.

When we finally got to exercise, I was overjoyed to find that I could easily fit on all of the machines. The last time I went, even my fore arms were almost too fat to fit in certain machines. We won't even talk about the leg ones.

I had a hard time getting my heart rate into the target range but by the end I had it down perfectly. My mom is a good motivator. She's one of those people that likes to keep things peppy when in the torture chamber...er... when she's exercising. It's so much easier to go with someone. It makes the time shorter.

So, I guess I'm back on track to my weight loss goals. My ultimate goal was always to be healthier and have ease of movement. I've got both of those in the bag. Now it's time to buckle down and get these last few pounds off.

that's great that you and your mom can do it together. don't let others get you down. you and your family and friends know where you've come from and we are right behind you.

It is hard getting started again but give it 2 to 3 weeks and you will be hooked on exercise. It is a good thing. I have seen Curves everywhere. Now I finally know someone that goes to one of them. Despite her rude comments, I hope you just brush them off. Keep in mind you have already accomplished more than she probably ever will. And yes it is wonderful to have someone to attend with. It really helps keep you motivated. If you ever need someone to say go SignGurl, you know I will do it.

Girl, I am so proud of you! Losing some amount of muscle is unavoidable for us. As much as I work out, I still lost about 2 lbs. You'll get it back; this is just a start.

The hardest part is starting... the rest is easy-peazy. :)

That is fantastic! I can tell you, the muscle will come back as long asa you keep using it. And as you no doubt know, muscle in even a resting state uses more calories than fat. So in the long run that is going to assist you.

    Congratulations!

That bitch at Curves should be forced to eat the fat discarded from T-bones at a steakhouse.

She should also receive some lessons on keeping one's more inane, ignorant comments to ones-self. Asshole.

What a rude freak to make such a stupid comment about your skin! I'm glad you are hieing your butt to the gym. I've been missing my workout with my gut on the fritz. Now that it's getting nice I can at least walk outside more. Keep up the good work!
