    Ugh!

I'm going to bed early because my throat is swelling as I type. I've been lucky enough to dodge the creeping crud that everyone has had at least twice in my house. My luck has run out, I'm afraid.

I wish my Gram was around to give me her home remedy of honey, lemon juice and straight up whiskey. I used to pretend to be sick just to get a little of the hooch. *cough*

Hope you don't get TOO sick.

My mother in law insists on forcing a concoction made from honey and vinegar on cold sufferers. She insists it works, but I reckon everyone just tells her it does so that she won't make them drink any more of it.

My Mom swears by a cup of herbal tea with two menthol cough drops melted in it. It's hard to admit, but it works! I hope you feel better!

I can remember my mom's home remedy. It was: she took a towel spread vicks on it wet it then put into oven to heat up then slap that sucker on my chest! I do believe I'd rather have yours!

Make sure the whiskey is amber or gold in color, smooth and warming. Good scotch is often smoother than bourbon, unless you're shelling out major bucks for something like Crown Royal. If you can find honey from a beehive very near your house, it may help to speed your recovery and even stave off major seasonal allergy symptoms when the time comes. I didn't believe it until I tried it. It has something to do with the honey's natural ability to speed healing from the contaminants closest to home. Feel better soon, Darlin'.
