    Flash 55, Take 34

    I know he's going to ask me to do it.

    My legs begin to shake at the thought.

    I can't make my mind stop reeling.

    As I look up, I feel sick and weak.

    I didn't sign on for this.

    I know I have to do something.
    He can't do it alone.

    Here I come!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If you are interested in attempting to write a 55, you can visit here. If you do one, go tell G-Man that you did.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I wrote this 55 based on my extreme fear of heights. Unfortunately, I chose a profession that requires me to be in the air part of the time.

    My boss, who is also my step father of 30 years, makes a point of trying to keep me on the ground. He respects my fear, even though I feel like an idiot for being so afraid. He is quite resourceful in finding ways for me to help while staying on the ground. He builds jigs so that I can hold signs from the ground.

    However, there are jobs that require both of us to be in the air. Yesterday was one of those days. I took a deep breath and climbed up to get on the scaffold. My legs were shaking the entire time, but I did it. After a while, I almost forgot that I was 16 feet in the air with little between me and the Earth.

    I was so proud of myself for being able to get up there and help out the way I'm supposed to. It was a good day.

    (I have more pictures, with me on the scaffold, that I hope to post when I get to work. The pics are on the work camera.)

    O, the unpleasant tasks that Life extorts from us sometimes...

    Yet I guess that we have to take everything with a grain of salt..

    That adds a taste to a living!

    Have a happy weekend Jenn! :)

    Yep I have that same fear....its one that pretty much keeps me off planes as well. Not saying I havent been on one cause I have but boy were my figers white by the time we landed. Its also why when we went on family vacations through montana and whyoming and colorado that I slept! And when I did wake up I freaked when they told me to look out the window!!!!!

    did your fear affect you less now than when you were heavier?

    did your increases physical ability/mobility allow you to feel more confident about the heights?

    I did that myself. I had to get about 14 feet or so off the ground. I rented some scaffolding and was amazed how much I still was in terror being up in the air. After a while I adjusted and got the siding hung only to have it blow off over the winter. Grrr... I sure wish I did not have that darn fear. Oh well. Congrats and Gettingerdone! You should see me on a roller coaster.

    I think I am finally coming back out of hiding. Thanks for dragging me along last weekend.

    Gosh Jenn, I sure hope you're feeling better. I think I've got something going on in my gut. I hate that feeling. Kind of like you can actually "feel" the food digesting...ugh!!!!

    I feel like I've been away FOREVER!
