How Much Time Do I Have?

I have never been this late in preparing for Christmas. We finally got the tree up and trimmed on Sunday. I did get to wrap all of the gifts and I'm glad I'm done with that aspect. I haven't baked one cookie. People expect me to make cookies and candy because that's what I do. If I come without them I know someone will tell me to go home. I haven't made one chocolate heart mold. 13 people (maybe I should invite one more person so it's an even number, luckily I'm not superstitious.) will be coming for Christmas Eve and I haven't made a menu. We have a party Thursday night and dinner at the girls 2nd grade teacher's house (she had both girls in her class). Did I mention that the girls have school through Friday? How am I going to get all of this stuff done?

Ok, I'm giving myself anxiety........ Decompressing.........

My parents have been divorced since I was nine and ever since it has been a tradition to spend Christmas Eve with my dad. Since I have been an adult, my sister and I have rotated years. The funny part is that my mom started inviting herself about 9 years ago. So, my dad, mom, step dad, my mom's parents, my sister and her husband, and my family all spend the day together. They all get along now since it's been 28 years. No one drinks so things stay pretty tame. I have been contemplating being a closet drinker this year. I think I'll start right now!

Oh I feel your pain girl! Believe me, in order for my family to get together, a lot of alcohol is involved. Bring the liquor out of the closet and have some fun...or you can just come here to my family's nutty house and party it up with us.

SO dreading this Christmas. Isn't that sad?

My advice: Take a big deep breath (think yoga breath) and then start assigning jobs for everyone to do. Sometimes it's hard to let go...but pass the responsibility around, girl! Get your little ones in the kitchen helping with the cookies and assign each family member to bring their favorite Holiday Food to the family dinner. Make it a family effort, you know! And if you must do it all yourself (if you're like me...it's kind of like 'if you want it done right you gotta do it yourself') then make a list of everything and then start crossing them off. Seeing the list dwindle will give you inspiration and energy to get it all done!
    GOOD LUCK!

Pantylines~Can it be a really dark closet where we can only drink and feel each other up?

Deb~Your family sounds fun. I'd love to come and visit.

    Wendy~Yes, I have a family of freaks.

City~I am like that. It's easier to do things yourself because you know they are done right. I have made a list and I'm checkin' it twice.

Damn, I knew I should have built you that bigger closet! I am not sure if everyone is in there hiding out from Christmas or just looking for a good time. I sure could use a pick me up right about now so if there is any more room...

Jenn, I'm only getting in there if we have red wine. Don't tell Alex. LOL.

Dzer~Yep, you got the right chicks ;-)

Barman~Well, come on in! You can work on that closet extension for me after the holidays.

Suze~You bring the wine and Alex. He could be useful.

Sheets~That sounds a little lonely to me. There's still room in the closet. Can you bring some tequila?
