Stuck In The Middle With You

Remember when I said that the football team had checked out? Well, they didn't. Sunday morning Mr. Sign and I got on the elevator with a large guy who also had his luggage. He was at least 6'6" and had the most amazing tatoos on his arms. I found myself staring at them but trying to look away so I didn't seem creepy. None of us said anything.

When we thought we reached the main floor, the doors wouldn't open. Now, I am quite claustrophobic and tend to panic in such situations. My mind was racing but I was able to keep it all inside. Apparently, the football player was also panicked since he pushed the alarm button several times. We waited for someone to come or at least acknowledge that they knew we were there. No one did.

The football player took matters into his own hands and used his bulging arms to try to pry the doors open. They quickly snapped shut. We waited a little longer and still no one came. He tried again to pry the doors open and this time we could see that we were between floors. His arms shook as the doors tried to close and I climbed out. Mr. Sign threw our luggage out and hopped out. He held the doors for the football player as I took his luggage while he climbed out.

As we passed the clerk at the desk who was only about 30 feet from the elevators, the football player let her know that we had been stuck and had tried to notify someone with the bell. Her response was, (I kid you not), "Well, you got out, right?" I wanted to say, "No, I'm still stuck in there. I'm just astral projecting myself here so I can have the pleasure of this intelligent conversation."

Several other players from the team had already loaded into the shuttle bus that was heading to the airport. As we waited for them to leave I overheard the driver say something about the Rams. I spent 5 days in the same hotel as the St. Louis Rams!! I wish I had known sooner because I might have hung out a little more.

I had a great trip. It was so nice just to be able to kick back and not have to be anywhere or do anything. I felt very relaxed. It's all over now and I want my life of leisure back!

I did a quick scan to see if anyone else wrote about that story somewhere, Hey why not figure out who the player was. Oh well, no such luck.

You really do have great stories. I hope your batteries are all recharged now. Glad to have you home again even if it means less posting again. :(

I would have asked for the hotel manager and raised a HUGE stink about not only the elevator, but the attitude of the employee. Who knows, you could have gotten part of your stay comped or a future freebie?

glad your trip was good darlin' ... welcome home.
