    Hormonal Me

Well, my little chickadees, it's time for a little TMI from SignGurl. I know you all have been dying to know how things are working out with my endometrial ablation. Even if you aren't, I'm going to tell you anyway.

The reason I had this procedure to cauterize the lining of my uterus was because I've always had terrible problems with my monthly cycle with excessive bleeding and cramping so bad that it affected my daily activities since I was a teen.

This procedure can completely stop menses (bleeding) in a high percentage of women. Since I had bariatric surgery, there is always the chance that I can become anemic because of such heavy blood loss. I can no longer take NSAIDs, the only medication that worked for cramps because they are hard on the stomach.

When I first spoke to the doctor about endometrial ablation, he told me that the procedure would probably not help with the cramping since the uterus is still in tact and should still do it's job by contracting (this is what causes the cramping) . This was contrary to all the information I had read previously.

I'm happy to report that today is the first day of menstruation for me and I've had almost no bleeding and no cramping. The only issue I have is being super emotional. I cried on my way to work because I heard "Annie's Song" by John Denver. Have you ever really listened to that song? Here are the lyrics:

You fill up my senses like a night in the forest,
like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain,
like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean.
You fill up my senses, come fill me again.

Come let me love you, let me give my life to you,
let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms,
let me lay down beside you, let me always be with you.
Come let me love you, come love me again.

What? You didn't cry when you read or heard them? Maybe it's just me and all my hormones.

Oh yeah, I cried yesterday while watching Spanglish during the scene where the maid
alters the clothing that the mother bought too small on purpose for her heavy daughter. It touched me. Or maybe I'm "touched" in the head.

I have one last bit of TMI to report. You are not allowed to put anything into your vagina for two weeks after endometrial ablation to allow the uterus to heal. NOTHING! So, my two weeks is up Wednesday. Woo hoo!!! I'm free to place anything I want in there. Oh, the possibilities...

    I Survived!

I had endometrial ablation yesterday. As expected, I got lots of drugs but unfortunately, they wore off too quick.

There were 4 people in the room with me including 2 nurses, the doctor and the guy who runs the machine. I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people while my hoo ha is flapping in the wind.

The office was completely closed down for the morning for my procedure. That was a little trippy to be the only patient there.

I was doing great until the doctor pulled out a needle that was at least 12" long. I'm not exaggerating either. When someone comes at your privates with a needle that big, you start to sweat like a whore in church (not that I know that first hand, hehe).

In all, I received 12 shots including 6 directly into "the mole". Ouch!! I didn't even get to keep the mole. It was a monster. They had to send it out to the lab.

I did really well and the doctor was amazed at how relaxed I was. I guess I fooled him because I was scared shitless.

After the procedure, the staff makes you wait for a couple of hours just to make sure you are ok. That was the worst part because the medications were wearing off. I have a super high tolerance for pain, but dayum it felt just like being in labor only I didn't get a baby to keep in the end.

After we finally got home, I was still so drugged that I fell asleep on the toilet, twice. Thank God I didn't fall off and crack my head open.

I feel much better today, but the doctor really wants me to stay home even tomorrow. I'll probably go to work anyway.

The doctor himself called me last night to see how I was doing. He also gave me this beautiful rose before I left the office. At least I got something to show for all of this.

I haven't even combed my hair in this picture and have no make up on either. So suck it! This is the real me, haha!

    I'm Looped

Tomorrow I'm having a medical procedure done. I'm finally having endometrial ablation. That's girl stuff. Basically, the doctor will be killing the lining of my uterus. This procedure is normally done in the hospital but will be done in the doctor's office because my insurance won't pay the hospitals in my area.

I wasn't nervous until I picked up the prescriptions they are making me take before the procedure. I have issues with taking several narcotics because they cause me to stop breathing. I've only had issues since weight loss surgery with pain meds. I had to start taking meds today. Hence the loopy part. I've got a scopolomine patch behind my ear and I'm on Darvocet right now. I feel all tingly.

The nurse made me more nervous when she talked about the procedure and whether I was nervous about pain. I wasn't until she asked.

Tomorrow I get to take some valium, tordal, darvocet, a cervical block and I'll also get an injection. I can't imagine how stoned I will be after that.

I'm going to let you in on a secret. (I'm only doing this because of the drugs.) My secret is, that if I do ok during this procedure (they are worried about my pain tolerance), I'm having a mole removed from my hoo ha. I've needed it done for a long time, but it was never convenient. What a better time than the present? I can't believe I just told the entire internet about my mole. And no, I'm not posting pictures...or maybe after the drugs...NO, not gonna do it.

I need to go to bed. I can't even make a complete sentence.
