It's no secret that I don't really care for football. I guess I get bored easily waiting too long for the players to move the ball 10 yards. I really don't understand all the rules of football and this probably adds to the dislike.
When a friend who has season tickets invited me to an Michigan State Hockey game, I hesitated a bit. I decided to go when she said it would be a girls' night out.
When we got to our seats, my friend introduced us to the fans around us. She made a huge deal out of telling them I was a hockey player virgin, oops... a hockey virgin.
Here we have Munn Ice Arena:
A little Zamboni action

A little more ice action:
I found out that I love hockey!! It's so fast paced and everything is moving in fast forward. It doesn't hurt that the players are HOT! Good times, I tell ya.
The Spartans (MSU) won the game 3-0 (against Western Michigan). It was all sweetness.
After the game we ate at a close by restaurant and as we were walking out, three of the players were coming in. We got to schmooze with them for a bit and boost their egos a little more.
On the Euchre front, I didn't win the tournament and I didn't win the booby prize (I didn't win actual boobies 'cause I don't really need any more) like last year. It was a little strange because some of the people who've seen us there for years came up and introduced themselves to us. I had to be all like, "I've been here for the last 10 years. You know me. I look a little different than last time you saw me".
Mr. Sign and I decided that there were a lot of losers there this year. The hosts' neighbor was playing a game with Mr. Sign and me. It was his turn to deal and he was sitting there all spaced out, not doing his job. Just when I was getting ready to smack him in the back of the head, he reached into his mouth, dug around, pulled out some grotty looking thing and stuck it in his pocket. He explained that he thought it was a walnut (since he was eating a brownie, without a plate or napkin, I might add) but it was his temporary filling. He continued to fish around in his horsey mouth as my stomach rolled.
I don't think I need to remind you that I am a total germophobe. I am the girl that flushes with her foot, uses elbows and paper towels to open doors and turn off faucets and lights. You will rarely catch me touching door handles and knobs without some sort of covering over my hand.
I started to panic when I realized that this dude had no intention of washing his hands when he started to shuffle the cards. Mr. Sign and I looked at each other and I knew that he could see the crazed look on my face. I wanted to run away screaming. I mean, it's flu season for cripe's sake. Ew, ew, ewwwww!! I spent the rest of the night
So, the weekend was a fun one especially since I got to watch hot guys on skates. How was your weekend?

i agree with you on the football thing. mr. lime has been saying for years that if he could take me to a live hockey game i'd love it. well, we been married 19 years and he has yet to get me to one.
as for the euchre dealer.....EEEEEEEWWWWWWWW. i'd have said something. i'm not the germaphobe you are but i'd have asked him to go wash his hands. thats' vile!
So...If I wore skates you would think I'm hot, and you would schmooze with me?
Riiiiiiiight!!
Most Hockey players have false teeth you know, is that hot?
xoxox
Hockey is a blast to watch!
Hard to believe some nice lady hasn't snatched that loser card player up yet! I'm blaming your loss in the tournament on the germy distractions.
Welcome to the world of hockey. As a Spartan Alum, thank you for going and supporting the team. Unfortunately, this weekend was a tough one here in Texas. The Red Wings LOST to the Stars. We were at the game. It was a bitter pill to swallow.
But I'm glad YOU had fun!
i love football and hockey. two most favorite sports. i love the hockey fights!
that card dealer-gaaarrooss. i'm afraid the mom in me woulda said something or at least pulled the little travel size hand sanitizer out that i always carry. i mean, blah. give me the shivers thinking about it.
and g-man-
false teeth can be hot if you're 6'2 and built like a hockey player. rawwrr.
1. I love football.
2. I love hockey.
3. I'm so glad that you had a good time!
4. That guy at the card game is FOUL and NASTY. I would have gotten up and left. I can't deal with people and their mouths. Ack!
Welcome hockey convert. It is a great game especially in person. It just is not the same on TV. And I have heard a lot of ladies loving those hockey players. Pro hockey ads another level of excitement as there are fights on the ice. Now to much fighting is a turn off but it can certainly get intense. Of course I gotta have my football too... to each their own.
Great picture of you three. Glad you enjoyed you day out.
You know I am not a super germaphobe but I don't think I could have stood that guy. I only just a few years ago got to where I avoid door knobs on very public doors during the winter. Man, everything else you mentioned it is a wonder you go anywhere at all.
Signgurl,
Glad to see your weekend was full of adventure. I never really got into hockey. Been to a couple of Rangers games back in my NYC days but that was about it.
My weekend? When Kurly and I get together sans the kids, all hell breaks loose. I am still recovering.

You'd be a football fan if you were a New York Giant winner of the 2008 Super Bowl football fan like me. Feels good to be a winner for a change.
what a fun time you had! i've got to go to a hockey game. we have a team in georgia.shoot, what's their name? i forget, but people always tell me i would love the sport! love the pic of u with the gals. you look like beautiful!
My other half use to play hockey, then Rugby, then my son started to play Rugby. The hours I've stood frozen on a rugby field with a flask of warm soup and sympathy. Glad you had a good time.
With a home team like the Lions to root for, it's understandable that you don't like football. Hockey rocks! I love the action and the fights too. My cousin bleeds Michigan green.
Pam is a germaphobe as well. We can't put the soap dispenser/sponge thingy in the sink face down and the cat bowls can't be washed with the same sponge that our plates can.
Great picture of the hockey mascot
You'll have to go to my blog to see how my wknd was....LOL!!!
You don't even look like the same person in the "old" photo! WOW!!!
Hockey is SOOOOOOOO much fun to watch. When I was still living in WI, I use to go to the Milwaukee Admirals games.
GROSS on the germies...ewwwwww!
Eh eh he, you said virgin.
I hate seeing people picking in their mouths. It's just wrong.
Jenn!! What a weekend!!
My best friend LOVES hockey and some day he'll even get me to a game with him. He's the only reason I own a hockey jersey, too. ;) I have to be honest, I'm all for watching hot guys on skates!!
That tooth thing completely gave me the heebie jeebies!!

Hey BT! Try bein a Lion's fan! pfftt hehehe
Sounds like you had a blast this weekend Jenn! I'm glad you, more or less, had a good time. I'm somewhat of a germaphobe myself. Not quite as bad as you sound...but as I get older, it gets worse. hehe
Anyway, hope you're having a geat week too. HUGS
I am a germ freak too. I keep alcohol, gloves, and paper towels stashed at my desk.
I could love hockey if it was, warm in the ring, sunshiney, and the score board would define the terminology for us green hockey fans. Doesn't sound like hockey does it :)
Ciao
My mom and aunt were at Friday night's game against U of M and we won 5-2! I was extremely jealous that I wasn't there too... GO STATE!! MSU hockey rocks - it's my favorite sport, and I agree with your thoughts on football for the most part! :) I can get into big games, but mostly - BORING!
Love Euchre too - and I'd have to say that I'm not really surprised this "gem" as you called him is single... ewww! :)
I hope you had a GREAT weekend!!
